Improve by Creative Thinking

There are signs that the economy is making a slow recovery. Is your organization waiting for that recovery or are you moving ahead by asking your leaders and employees to come up with new and better ideas?

 

Creative Thinking is one way you can generate new processes, improve the way you work or develop new ideas for any part of your organization.

 

Typically we hear:

  • I am not creative.
  • We did it that way five years ago and it did not work.
  • There is nothing I can do about the problem.

Have you heard these comments? Have you made these comments?

 

These negative approaches hurt your team and organization. Everyone has the capability to develop their creative talents. And as a leader, you can help all of your employees become more creative. Creativity isn't limited to painting a picture or writing a musical score. It can also be a new idea, concept or a fresh way of looking at an existing problem.

 

Businesses need to look for new ways of doing things to take advantage of any economic recovery. The world has changed and if you have not, you may be left behind. Work at having all of your employees become creative by inviting them to help move your business in the future. Creative Thinking can prompt you (and them) to generate new ideas, products or services.

 

Some strategies you may want to pursue:

  • Ask your employees questions. Ask them to be curious about what your organization is doing.
  • You and your employees should challenge one another. Is that the best way to do something? Can you think of a better way?
  • Develop a positive approach to problem solving.
  • Have employees think of new ideas without fear of being criticized or judged before they have time to discuss their ideas.
